The fairy chimneys result of water and wind erosion. Water erodes first the superficial and dark layer of hard tuff, then wind and water erodes the light and thick layer of soft tuff. This geoligic process creates the fairy chimneys with their cap of hard tuff (Cappadocia, Turkey).
