During our second trip to Benin, we studied the Gounoudoudji iron mine in the company of Danish archaeologists Inga Merkyte and Søren Albek. It was an opportunity to gain a better understanding of how this gigantic underground mine was dug, and to examine the curious legend that associates it with men with tails; Dogbo (Benin), February 2018.
